All projects here on the Initiative's website are made freely available for personal, non-commercial use. Any commercial use or commercialization efforts of any design submitted to this website must be licensed and appropriate license fees paid. The definition for "commercial use" is "if you receive compensation of any type or nature for a project listed on the Initiative website, it's commercial use."

License fees for commercial applications are split into two chunks, with part used to fund the Initiative's operations and programs (specifically, parts acquisition and subsidized prototype construction). The rest are paid out to the contributors who helped create the commercialized project. This way we not only help fund continued development, project upgrades and improvement, and maintain a home for the Initiative's usership community, but the creators of the projects here receive rewards for their creative efforts.
