So, what is this "initiative?" How does it work? Who operates it? All these questions and more are answered within the pages of this section of the website.

The Open Source Automotive Electronics Initiative is a Florida nonprofit corporation founded in 2010 by three auto mechanics (well, two mechanics and a shop manager) that thought it'd sure make things easier to fix if there was some degree of common ground among auto electrical systems. (There's a pun in there somewhere we think...) One thing led to another, and from a whole lot of "what if..." brainstorming the idea of a community effort to develop a standardized, manufacturer-independant but fully manufacturer-customizable electrical system took shape. After what could only be described as a virtual marathon of work, OSAEI was born.
