The Initiative is a soon-to-be-non-profit* organization that will ultimately be fueled by donations. These donations may take the more traditional monetary form, but we also accept donations of time (by becoming a collaborator) and ability (by becoming a contributor).

"Soon-to-be-non-profit?" Sure! To explain, most U.S. States require some form of registration for charitable companies in order to be permitted to accept donations and conduct any sort of fund-raising within the state. And on top of this, the process of registering with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity is rather time-consuming to say the least. So, until the relevant paperwork is finally worked through these various systems, OSAEI will operate as a for-profit corporation (which means we cannot, and will not, accept donations as a typical charitable organization) and fund itself via sales of products through its Zazzle store, etc. Once we're legally registered to everyone's satisfaction we'll flip over to "non-profit mode" and continue from there.
